Business Continuity Lead Business Impact Analyst

Business Continuity Lead Business Impact Analyst Course prepares professionals to structure, conduct and consolidate Business Impact Analysis (BIA) processes, ensuring alignment with business continuity requirements, recovery priorities and operational resilience. The training frames BIA as a critical decision-making instrument, not merely as a documentary exercise, enabling impacts, tolerance times, priorities, resources, dependencies and Minimum Business Continuity Objectives (MBCO) to be transformed into clear, prioritised and usable requirements.

SPECIALIST LEVEL — advanced competences to address critical challenges in the area.

Why this course exists

To bridge the gap between the generic identification of critical processes and the production of a genuinely usable Business Impact Analysis.

In many organisations, BIA is still treated as a formal exercise, with inconsistent impact criteria, arbitrary recovery times, weak connection to resources and dependencies, and limited usefulness in supporting real decisions.

The Business Continuity Lead Business Impact Analyst course exists to bridge this gap, focusing on the construction of a solid, coherent and defensible BIA, ensuring that requirements such as MTPD, RTO, RPO and MBCO are clarified and translated into usable organisational priorities and requirements.

What this course enables you to do

Identify

Identify critical products, services, activities and resources, as well as relevant dependencies and interdependencies.

Assess

Assess impacts over time, severity, tolerances and breaking points using consistent criteria adapted to the organisational context.

Determine

Determine MTPD, RTO, RPO and MBCO based on impact, tolerance and real capability criteria.

Support

Support continuity, recovery and prioritisation decisions, in articulation with other specialisations within the Behaviour Business Continuity architecture.

Value for the organisation

  • Strengthens the methodological quality of the BIA, reducing arbitrariness in the definition of priorities and recovery times.
  • Creates a common language and a defensible method to analyse impacts, tolerances, resources, dependencies and Minimum Business Continuity Objectives.
  • Supports decisions under operational, organisational and technological constraints, with prioritisation by impact and criticality.
  • Establishes a solid basis for strategy, planning, audit, reporting and regulatory, contractual or governance requirements.

Introduction

The Business Continuity Lead Business Impact Analyst course is a Behaviour specialisation in Business Impact Analysis, aligned with ISO/TS 22317:2021 and recognised international practices.

The course enables professionals to transform business continuity needs into clear, prioritised and justifiable requirements, considering critical products and services, priority activities, impacts over time, resources, dependencies, interdependencies and Minimum Business Continuity Objectives.

As participants progress through the course topics, the integration between impact analysis and organisational decision-making is reinforced: definition of impact criteria, prioritisation, clarification of MTPD, RTO, RPO and MBCO, reading of critical dependencies, identification of gaps and consolidation of results with practical usefulness.

Throughout the course, participants work with a transversal case study and respective sub-scenarios, used as a basis for practical activities and contextualised questions carried out exclusively online.

This course prepares participants for the Certified Lead Business Impact Analyst personal certification.
