Your professional certification journey can begin with an examination, progress through professional experience and continue through maintenance, recertification or transition.

- Already have professional experience? Where the scheme allows, apply directly for the level whose requirements you meet.
- Already certified? Maintain your credential, apply for recertification where applicable and keep up with the requirements for new editions.

Professional certification levels: start with knowledge and progress through experience
The exact titles depend on each scheme. For ISO 27001, professional certification levels follow these experience thresholds.
No experience required
Employee Readiness, Essentials, Foundation, Transition and Associate levels, depending on the applicable scheme.
1 year of experience
ISO 27001 example: Auditor or Implementer, with relevant experience in the applicable activities.
3 years of experience
ISO 27001 example: Lead Auditor or Lead Implementer, with relevant experience in the applicable activities.

Frequently asked questions
I passed my examination. How do I get certified?
Complete the online certification request form to receive the application documents. Once you have completed and signed your application, send it with the applicable supporting documents to certification@behaviour-group.com.
How long do I have to complete my initial certification?
You have six months from the date of the examination you passed. Late fees apply after this period. After three years, new training and a new examination are required.
Do I need professional experience?
It depends on the level. Some credentials do not require experience, while other levels require relevant experience where specified by the scheme.
How long is the certification valid?
The validity period depends on the credential. For example, Associate, Auditor, Implementer and Lead levels are valid for three years. Employee Readiness, Essentials, Foundation and Transition remain valid until 12 months after publication of the next edition of the applicable standard, and the required update must be completed within that period. For diplomas previously issued with an expiry date, the conditions communicated to the holder apply.
