EXCELLENCE AND LEADERSHIP LEVEL — technical authority and leadership in governance.

Why this course exists

To transform ISO/IEC 42001 requirements into real, evidence-based and auditable AIMS implementation.

Many organisations have accelerated AI adoption, but struggle to move from intention to governance, processes, controls, evidence, risk/impact management and continuous improvement. This ISO 42001 Lead Implementer course prepares professionals to lead the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) with method, consistency and the capability to progress towards an ISO/IEC 42001 certification audit.

What this course enables you to do

Plan

Define the AIMS implementation approach and methodology, including drivers, context, interested parties and scope.

Implement

Build AI policy, processes, procedures and controls, including risk and opportunity management, impact assessment and management of applicable requirements.

Evaluate

Establish monitoring, indicators, internal audits and management reviews to ensure AIMS performance, compliance and effectiveness.

Improve

Manage findings, nonconformities and corrective actions, strengthening continuous improvement and preparing the organisation for an ISO/IEC 42001 certification audit.

Value for the organisation

  • Consistent and auditable implementation of an AIMS, aligned with ISO/IEC 42001 and ready for certification.
  • Risk reduction and increased trust through governance, controls and sustained evidence for responsible AI development and use.
  • Compliance capability and integration with other management systems, such as information security, privacy and compliance, and with applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Accelerated execution through practice, case study and templates that reduce rework and increase the quality of deliverables.

Introduction

The ISO 42001 Lead Implementer course was designed to transform the standard into practice. Supported by a case study adapted to a real-world context, the course challenges participants to establish and maintain an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), based on the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001:2023, correlated standards and a BEHAVIOUR customised methodology, developed by specialists in artificial intelligence, ISO standards and related international best practices.

In addition to mastering definitions, concepts, principles and requirements, participants learn how to put an Artificial Intelligence Management Programme into practice, including: context and scope definition; identification of interested parties; organisational structures (roles, responsibilities and authorities); risk and opportunity assessment and treatment; AI risk assessment and impact assessment; preparation of the AI Statement of Applicability (SoA) and treatment plan; objectives and plans; documented information (policies, processes, procedures and plans); implementation of controls; performance evaluation (monitoring, measurement, internal audit and management review); and continuous improvement.

The fundamental knowledge of the Artificial Intelligence 42001 Foundation course is included in this course and, for this reason, participation in or certification at Foundation level is not a prerequisite. The course is updated with the latest published editions of all related best practices, including any published preliminary version.
